The Queen of Wands from the Thoth Tarot

The Queen of Wands from the Thoth Tarot

The Queen of Wands from the Thoth Tarot

Her elemental attribution is Water of Fire.

Her Zodiacal attribution is 20 degrees Pisces to 20 degrees Aries.

The 12 rays of light emanating from the crown of the Queen of Wands is the number of the signs of the Zodiac which is in turn representative of Nuit, who could be seen as the universal mother.

The queen holds a wand crowned with a pine cone in her left hand. This wand is the Thyrsus which is the symbol and weapon of Maenads of Greek Myth. The Maenads aka Mad Women were the followers of Dionysus and they were characterised as having unbridled lust and animalistic passions. The wand crosses her naval chakra as well as the groin of the leopard. The wand resembles a phallus suggesting that she is a satisfied woman.

The Queens right hand on the Leopards head indicates that she is in control of the animal soul as symbolised by the Leopard.

The Queen of Wands is controlling, commanding, frank and honest. She is also restless and impatient.

For this blog post I am using “The Thoth Companion, the key to the true symbolic meaning of the Thoth Tarot” by Michael Osiris Snuffin.
